I have been asked before, why I use 'OMW' for Oh, my word, instead of the popular 'OMG'. Many Christians would say that they use OMG to exclaim 'oh, my goodness', however the more popular meaning would be using our Father's name in vain.
The Bible tells us that we should be very careful not to cause a brother to stumble and I take that very seriously. We are to be the fragrance of Christ, being an example of His love, towards each other, and towards God Himself.
Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble. (1 Corinthians 8:13 NKJV)
Typing OMG just may make my brother or sister use our Father's name in vain, and so, that is why I will not type it.
There are so many ways we can be considerate of each other, but living our lives in a way that doesn't cause one to stumble is one of the most loving things that you can do for others.
God bless and keep you all.
Oh My Wounds
ReplyDeleteOh, I still don't get it right all of the time, and continue on the journey of learning where I need to grow, but it is important in my heart to steer others towards the Light :)
ReplyDeleteAmen! Yes I have felt the same way about this for a while now, I refuse to use OMG and instead use OMW.
ReplyDeletethanks for posting Bekkah! A blessing to know there are others out there with the same opinions regarding this :)
Thank you so much for your comment Traces of Grace! God bless you!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this - it was an Ahaaa moment for me! You have a great insight on this. May God continue to bless you as you bless others!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Derek, but all glory goes to God of course! The Holy Spirit spoke to my heart about it when I was texting a friend thinking, how will they know to think "goodness" for the G instead of the Lord's name? I've been typing OMW since. God will tell us the most amazing things if we align our hearts with what He loves. May God bless you as well!
